In their natural habitat, the Crested Gecko will mainly eat live insects. As pets, these reptiles can also enjoy insect food. You can feed gecko cutworms, grasshoppers, crickets, silkworms, and butterworms. Moths, cockroaches and spiders are also disgusting but good choices. With whatever insect you choose to feed your Crested Gecko, make sure the distance is no greater than the distance between your lizard’s eyes. Never feed your pet gecko with wild-caught insects that may be contaminated with parasites or pesticides.

In addition to insects, the Crested Gecko feeds on fruits and nectar both as pets and in nature. Peaches, bananas, and apricots are all great treats.

Fresh and clean water is essential for all living things, including your Crested Gecko. In the wild, geckos will lick raindrops from leaves and other vegetation. Spray your pet’s cage with a water mister so it can lick the drips off the sides of the tank. It also helps keep humidity levels high. Keep a shallow bowl of water in the tank at all times. Change every day.

How to Feed a Crested Gecko

While feeding a pet Crested Gecko isn’t rocket science, it involves more than just putting a few crickets in a tank. You need to prepare lizard food properly.

For starters, you should take good care of the insects you feed your gecko. This ensures your pet eats quality insects that are loaded with nutrients. Feed the insects a high-quality food for at least a day before giving it to your gecko. Feed the pre-made bugs. Dark green leafy vegetables and whole grains are also excellent choices.

Once the bugs are ready for your pet, remove a small number of them in the cage. Don’t add more insects to the tank than your lizard can eat in 15 minutes. Leftover crickets can chew on your Crested Gecko’s skin and cause injury and irritation. Feed your pet insects at night and up to three times a week.

Commercial food and baby food are also good products to feed your pet Crested Gecko.
