Fun fact
The Persian cat is one of the oldest natural cat breeds still alive today. Originating in Persia (modern-day Iran), these cats date back to ancient Egypt. They were imported to Western Europe during the 16th century. Considered very rare, royalty and noble families preferred these cats. The Queen of England Victoria had many cats, but one of her favorites was the white heather which was described as a woolly and white Persian.
Tips for naming your cat
When thinking of a name for your cat, make sure you choose something that has lasting power as Persian cats can live between 10 and 18 years. Also, choose something that you feel comfortable sharing with your cat’s friends, family and veterinary office. You can get inspired from anywhere, such as icons of pop culture, movies with cats, or even fur color. For example, ebony, shade or onyx are some great names for a black cat.
