4 Most Expensive Cows In The World

1. Miss

Missy is a Holstein cow that was auctioned in 2009 for $1.2 million, making it the most expensive cow ever sold in the world.

He was 3 years old at the time of sale. He has proven himself to be an excellent show cow, which is probably why he is so valuable. He was easily considered the most valuable cow at the time, so no one was surprised that he sold it for such a large amount.

He won the Ultimate Grand Champion of all Breeds at the World Dairy Expo, one of the top titles a show cow can win. He also won various other top titles, which contributed to his fame and value.

In 2012, he was named the Holstein cow of the year.

Currently, his genetic material is being used to improve other Holstein cattle.

2. American SAVs

SAV America is a bull that sells for $1.51 million. He was raised by the Schaff Angus Valley, which has produced many record-breaking bulls over the last few decades. However, the SAV America broke records in 2019 as the most expensive bull ever sold.

He was sold to Herbster Angus Farm in Nebraska.

The bull also broke the 205-day weaning weight at 1,107 pounds. It is said that he always stands out, even before breeding. Its long body and square hips set it apart from other bulls. His personality is described as “gentle”, so he is not as scary as he seems.

The bull also ranks in the top 1% for annual weight and carcass weight, which makes it even more valuable.

Since sales are actually only 80% of the semen part, the true value of SAV America is close to $2.67 million.

The previous record for a bull was only $800,000.

3. Fog

Mist is a Holstein cow that was sold to investors for $1.3 million in 1985, which is the largest price paid for a cow at auction. Today, she is considered the matriarch of the Holstein cow.

However, the cow was not actually sold. Instead, the owner “sells” the cow to a group of investors who belong to him. Hence, he was paid for the cow but was still a stakeholder in the cow—that was a bit tricky.

Fog is a cow show. He produces milk with a high butterfat content and a broad pedigree. His offspring were also sold for quite a bit of money, and he was raised extensively throughout his life. For this reason, he is considered to have founded an entire line of cattle.

4. luxury spices

While Holstein cattle are generally the most expensive cattle, other breeds have their record. For example, the Posh Spice is a type of Limousin that sells for $360,000 in 2021, which is a record breaker for the breed.

This cow is selling well, mainly because of its pedigree. He also looks amazing.

She was used for the IVF program, with her eggs being implanted into other cows. This process has allowed him to have many different calves.
